Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Workshop
February 13 @ 1:30 pm - 5:15 pm
Among their many applications, satellites are often used for remote sensing to produce large-scale mapping of areas for monitoring and observation purposes. Some common pain points of traditional optical satellite imaging involve the issues of cloud cover and images can only be acquired in daytime.
Compared to optical imaging, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems have unique imaging capabilities which allow them to penetrate cloud cover and to acquire high resolution images even during nighttime. Until recently, SARs were difficult to implement on small satellites. However, the miniaturization of electronic components has catalyzed the rise of incorporating SAR systems onto small satellite constellations.
SSTA will be co-hosting a SAR Workshop with Synspective Inc, to provide a platform for a series of technical discussions on developments and applications of SAR imaging technology. Key discussion areas include;
- Overview of Small Satellite Constellations
- Solutions Utilizing SAR
- Industrial Application of Satellites
- Utilization of SAR for Public Institutions
