About Us

What is the Supply Chain Challenge++ Industry Track?

The Supply Chain Challenge++ Industry Track (SCC++) is an extension of the case competition opened to students to gain exposure to the logistics industry. This track is opened to all persons and organisation who wish to apply their product or services to address real-life supply chain challenges faced by participating logistics industry players. This Industry Track is co-organised by the Singapore Logistics Association (SLA), Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), and the Singapore Land Authority (GeoWorks), and supported by GeoWorks, Action Community for Entrepreneurship, and InnoSpace+. The intent is to connect solution providers with the logistic industry players to accelerate innovation thinking and foster partnership. Participants will have the opportunity to work closely with the industry players to further develop their innovative solution into a viable product that could be potentially adopted by the industry players to address their challenges.

Established since 1973, the Singapore Logistics Association (SLA) aims to represent the Singapore logistics industry and advance professionalism and excellence to promote high standards in industry practices.

Singapore University of Social Sciences

Singapore Land Authority

Singapore Land Authority (SLA) is a statutory board with the Ministry of Law. Its mission is to optimise land resources for the social and economic development of Singapore. SLA manages some 11,000 hectares of State land and about 5,000 State
properties, which have largely been tenanted out for a variety of uses.

It also manages land sales, leases, acquisitions and allocation, developing and marketing land-related information, and maintaining the national land information database through digitised land information services. Being the national land registration authority for property transactions, SLA issues and guarantees land titles in Singapore. It also manages and maintains the national land survey system, where boundaries or legal limits of properties are defined, based on a coordinated cadastre survey system.

The use of geospatial information is also spearheaded by SLA through a national collaborative environment where geospatial data, policies and technologies are established and defined, thereby fostering innovation, knowledge and value creation for the Government, enterprises and community.

GeoWorks is an industry co-innovation space where the Singapore Land Authority brings together geospatial companies, corporate users and the government, to grow a vibrant geospatial ecosystem through co-creation of solutions and business opportunities.

GeoWorks aims to promote and proliferate the use of geospatial information science and technology to support sectoral digitalisation and to elevate the geospatial industry for Smart Nation. The focus is to help create solutions using location and map-based technologies to enhance business opportunities and productivity, and provide geospatial solutions for the Singapore public and businesses.

GeoWorks will partner with public agencies and industries in conducting thematic challenges and industry events to catalyse innovative solutions and business opportunities. Action Community for Entrepreneurship

The Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE) is a national private sector-led organisation to drive entrepreneurship and innovation in Singapore.

Launched in 2003 by the Ministry of Trade & Industry and restructured as a private entity in 2014, ACE is supported by the government, under the patronage of Senior Minister of State for Ministry of National Development and Ministry of Trade & Industry, Dr Koh Poh Koon. FAQ

1. Why are there two track for the Challenge?

SCC used to be a case competition open to students to gain exposure to the logistics industry. In this 7th edition of SCC, the co-organisers have come together to expand the challenge to involve solution providers as well to connect them with the Mentor Companies to work together to address the real-life challenges.

 

2. Who is eligible to select challenge statements for the SCC++ Industry Track? This track is opened to all persons and organisations who wish to apply their product and services to address the challenge statements, except:

(a) all staff (whether employed on a permanent, contract, temporary or other basis) under the employment of the Co-organisers;
(b) all officers seconded to the Co-organisers; and
(c) immediate family members of all the persons described in (a) and (b) above.

 

3. Is there a charge to participate?

No. Participation is free.

 

4. Are participants allowed to join multiple team?

No. Each participant is only eligible to register for one (1) team.

 

5. How many people are allowed in a team?

All teams should have a minimum of one (1) member and a maximum of four (4) members.

 

6. What are the benefits of joining this Challenge?

This event provides a platform for you to gain a deeper understanding of the actual challenges faced by the logistic industry and apply your solution to address these challenges. Participants can also build valuable network with other technology players and logistics industry players to explore future business opportunities.
All finalist teams are eligible for fast-tracked entry to the GeoWorks Programs and co-working space at GeoWorks (Terms & Conditions apply).

 

7. Do participants need to be able to code to participate?

We welcome people with different skillsets and the need to code will depend entirely on your proposed solution.

 

8. Do participants require a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to join the challenge?

We welcome all participants who have an innovative solution, regardless of its stage in the product lifecycle. Participating teams may use the duration of the challenge to further develop their solution into a MVP.

 

9. Can participants select multiple challenge statements and submit multiple solutions?

Each participating team may submit different solution to different challenge statements, but is not allowed to submit the same submitted solution to different challenge statements

 

10. Can participants change their selected challenge statement?

Participants can change their selected challenge statement after submission by informing the organiser through email ([email protected]). However, this must be done before the submission deadline. Participants are not permitted to change their selected challenge statements after the submission deadline.

 

11. Are the participants free to use any technologies?

Yes, the participants are free to use any technologies.

 

12. Will data be provided for the participants?

The Mentor Companies may provide their data to shortlisted finalist teams to further develop the solution.

 

13. Are the participants free to use external datasets?

Yes, the participants are free to use any external datasets that they find useful in their solution. The participants shall be responsible appropriate use of these external datasets, subject to the originators’ terms and conditions.

 

14. Is the attendance at the Opening Ceremony and Engagement Session mandatory?

Attendance is not mandatory, but it is highly encouraged to understand the Challenge better and to interact with the challenge partners and other participants.

 

15. Who owns the Intellectual Property (IP) Rights of the developed solutions?

Please see “Intellectual Property and Personal Data” in the Terms and Conditions of the Challenge.

 

16. Are participants required to do oral presentation?

Yes, shortlisted teams will be required to pitch their solution to the challenge statement owners.

 

17. Can the oral presentation be conducted using a video conference?

Only participating teams which are based overseas will be allowed to conduct their presentation through a video conference.

 

18. What are the oral presentations like?

The shortlisted teams will present their proposal to the challenge statement owner. Presentation aids such as slide presentation, storyboard, video and others are allowed to communicate the ideas and findings. If desired, teams can also demonstrate the features and capabilities of their functional solutions.

 

19. What happens after a participating team is selected as a finalist team?

Finalist teams will work closely with the challenge statement providers over a period of 6 weeks (the development period) to better understand their line of business and develop a dedicated solution that can sufficiently address their challenges. Finalist teams will liaise directly with the companies to arrange their desired meetup frequency and time.

 

20. Are participants required to showcase their solutions on the finale day on 27 July 2018 and is the attendance compulsory?

All finalist teams are required to be present to showcase the solutions on the finale day. Logistics will be provided for the teams to showcase their solution digitally.
